Toys and things to keep toddlers busy are endless. It is such that every parent feels confused and overwhelmed when going to a store or looking online for the perfect object to keep their toddler occupied and enjoy it. That’s where this post comes in. I want to tell you what worked for our 2 toddlers and what they LOVE to play with. Mind you they have been gifted so much over the years. Many that have been either ignored or used only once. So let’s get right to what will keep them occupied for at least an hour if not more (that’s what we want to happen right *wink*).

We fell in love with Magnet Tiles since I discovered them at a friends house when my son was around 12 months. When we realized how expensive they were we decided to purchase them when he was older. We ended up getting these about a year later. They were much more affordable than the other brands out there, had great reviews and came in a large package with the option of buying cars on wheels making it more fun for my son. We have had these over a year and a half now and the magnets have held up really well, considering how rough they are!
After I had my daughter I couldn’t wait to buy a little toy kitchen like all my friends had for their little girls. I waited for her first birthday to get her one of these and it been a hit. My toddler makes pretend meals with the KidKraft Tasty Treats Play Food Set, they use the phone to call their grandparents and baba when he isn’t home. At our old apartment, I used to make them sit there to have their snacks as well. They went through a phase of hiding in the kitchen oven/dishwasher! We have had it over a year and it’s in great condition.
This is on my wishlist for my kids. Why? Because I have 3 things that fulfill this purpose and it’s a waste of space and if can be achieved with one item then that would have been best and I have seen this work VERY well at classes we have been to with the kids. This easel has a drawing board on one side for Chalk, a magnetic board that can be used with markers and also magnets! We purchased an Ikea Drawing Board, Ikea Paper roll, Ikea Magnet Board and Letter/Number/Shape Magnets Separately from the Target $3 section. So you see how all of those could have been merged into one product! Save yourself time making different things and have one standing board whether the kids can paint on paper, practice their alphabets and numbers using the magnets, and also draw using chalk and markers! 🙂
Boys love tools like their daddy, so my son was ecstatic when we got him this. It had all the tools and was such great quality and has held up since summer of 2016!
With all the OB appointments I had to have my daughter tag along to this year, I think she developed a love for pretending to be a doctor and checking our heartbeat. I decided to look for a good kit to give her on Eid this year and she loved it. We have had it about 7 months now and its held up really well. My daughter would wear the band-aid wristband everywhere until she lost one! It comes in a gift case, with 12 pieces of medical equipment toys which are pretty cool.
My husband purchased this with the intention of gifting it to our 2-year-old and I automatically said it wouldn’t work with her because there were so many tiny pieces and she would destroy it. I was pleasantly surprised to see her put it together one day as she sat in her room for over 30 mins! I was so impressed that we ended up getting Mrs. Potato Head as well!
We owned 2 scooters prior to this and I have got to say this scooter by far is the best one I have seen. It doesn’t have any sharp edges and is the smoothest ride. I get terrified seeing how fast my son goes on it, but it is so easy to get the hang of, he’s now a pro riding it. The bar can be raised for taller toddlers which is great so we know it’ll last my son at least till he is 5. He got this when he turned 3 in 2016. It comes in loads of colors which is a plus 🙂
Both my toddlers have owned this as their first laptop and even though 1 broke down thanks to my toddler throwing water on it, our second one is still very much alive 2 years later and my 2-year-old loves singing along to the ABCs. My son who is 4, would use it much better by spotting the alphabet for each object on the screen etc. It comes in 2 colors and it really compact, light and easy to carry around.
This doodle drawing board is a great toy to keep toddlers busy. It has 4 shape stamps in addition to the pen and rubs of pretty easy. It is pretty thin and with all the times my toddler as stepped and jumped over it, it is still alive so it is good quality for the price.
Pretend play is big with toddlers and even though there are hundreds of capes out there I knew I wanted something customized for my kids that would be good quality, simple and last a long time. “Superman & Superwoman to the rescue” when these go on! They also come with the option of having cuffs and a mask! We chose the simple superman logo, with the kid’s names and initial at the back.
When we go to the park my toddler is notorious for using other kids cars, bikes, toys, and scooters. So when we got her this I think she almost got hurt running from the car to the garage trying to use it. It was a hilarious scene! The kids pretend to drive in the car, give each other rides, pretend to fill up gas and carry around food in the trunk! Lots of fun with this even though it does take up space.
What I love most about this is how it is almost like a wooden puzzle and children can use their creativity to make different tracks, paths etc. There are so many additional pieces, trains, and tracks that can be purchased from Ikea as well. If you would like to invest more there is a great deal on Amazon for a 100 Piece set that comes with lots of attachments and environmental pieces.
That’s a wrap for now. I will add more toys
